Fernando Band, Trujillo and Edna Vazquez will be performing a concert on Feb 1st 2018 at The Mississippi Studios to raise money for The Virginia Garcia Memorial Medical Clinic. All three artist are donating their services so that 100% proceeds can go to the clinic. Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center is a nonprofit community health center serving the communities of Washington and Yamhill Counties, with a special emphasis on serving migrant and seasonal farmworkers. They were founded in 1975. That summer, six-year old Virginia Garcia and her farm worker parents traveled from their home in Mission, Texas to California and Oregon to work in the fields. Along the way Virginia cut her foot, and by the time they reached Oregon, it had become infected. Due to economic, language and cultural barriers to health care, Virginia died from what should have been an easily treatable wound.
Moved to action by Virginia’s unnecessary death, the community quickly rallied together to open the first Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center in a three-car garage, determined to prevent similar tragedies from occurring.
Today, Virginia Garcia provides healthcare services to more than 45,000 patients a year in Washington and Yamhill Counties at our five primary care clinics and pharmacies, five dental offices, six school-based health centers and women’s clinic. They provide outreach to schools, community health fairs and to migrant and seasonal farm workers at local camps and commercial nurseries through their mobile clinic. They don’t turn anyone away if they don’t have money.
This benefit concert is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Virginia Garcia in support of their mission to provide great health care to those who need it most. Please help us spread the word of this concert and please come down to the show on Feb 1st to show your support.

20 years ago, the original Widows Band consisting of Joe Chiusano, Marilee Hord, Clayton Jones, Dan Eccles and I broke down outside of Bakersfield on our way to open up for Lee Rocker from the Stray Cats (sadly, a total asshole!) at Jack’s Sugar Shack in Los Angeles and thanks to Loren Leed and Joe Chuisano, the memories of this fateful trip have been preserved for posterity and your viewing pleasure.
This band will be reuniting for the first time in 19 years to celebrate the 20th Year Anniversary of Widows at The Star Theater on November 10th and the band will be performing the entire record in sequence. Our good friends The Old Joe Clarks and Little Sue will be performing as well!
Domingo Records will be selling the first ever pressing of this record on vinyl at the show as well!

The original Fernando Band consisting of Marilee Hord, Dan Eccles, Clayton Jones, Joe Chiusano and Fernando Viciconte released their American-Gothic Classic “Widows” in 1997 to overwhelming critical and popular acclaim. Their passionate and explosive live performances soon made them one of Portland’s most exciting live bands. This original line up is reuniting for the first time in 18 years to celebrate the 20th Year Anniversary of their landmark record. The Band will also be celebrating the first pressing and release of “Widows” on Vinyl by performing the entire record in sequence! The band has recruited their longtime friends, also recently reunited, The Old Joe Clarks (featuring members of M.Ward and Tin Hat Trio) as main support for this show! This performance will be a one-time only event that you will not want to miss so we highly recommend that you secure your tickets asap!
“Fernando Viciconte is a true believer. Like Hank Sr., Springsteen, David Hidalgo and his other heroes, he sees a bleak world out there but clings to the romantic notion that letting it out in the passion of song can ease the pain, redeem the soul or at least help make a little sense of it all.” Dim Desmond, No Depression Magazine (1997)
